As a part of the B.Ed. Semester IV curriculum the students of Kamala Devi Sohanraj Singhvi Jain College of Education visited the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Bonhoogly on 12th July, 2026, accompanied by their mentors Dr. Sudeshna Mukherjee and Prof. Basanta Mukherjee. The primary objective of the visit was to provide the trainee teachers with practical exposure to inclusive educational practices and foster sensitivity towards the diverse needs of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Starting with an informative orientation session conducted by a senior faculty member of NIEPID, the programme acquainted the students with the institute’s vision, objectives, and multifaceted activities. It highlighted NIEPID’s contribution towards the education, rehabilitation, training, and empowerment of persons with intellectual disabilities. Students also learned about the various training programmes provided by the special educators, speech therapists, psychologists, vocational counsellors and other professionals related to the empowerment of children with special needs. During the visit, the students were given a guided tour of the campus including various resource rooms, inclusive classrooms, vocational training centres, and counselling and therapy rooms. It provided the trainee teachers with valuable insights into the diverse learning needs, and potential of children with special needs. They understood the importance of the Individualized Education Programme (IEP) offered by the institute for supporting the holistic development of every learner. The visit was an enriching experience for the participants, enhancing their professional knowledge and broadening their perspective on inclusive education.
The Students OF Kamala Devi Sohanraj Singhvi Jain College of Education visited to the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP), Kolkata, on 10 July 2026 as part of the Semester IV Practicum. A total of 30 student-teachers, accompanied by Dr. Trisha Banerjee, participated in the visit. The students gained practical exposure to inclusive education, multidisciplinary rehabilitation services, and individualized teaching practices through interactions with professionals and observations of various therapy units. The visit enriched their understanding of inclusive education by linking theoretical concepts with practical experience.
The students of Kamala Devi Sohanraj Singhvi Jain College of Education visited Alakendu Bodh Niketan Residential, Kankurgachi on 17th July 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Shrutashil Kar. The institution focuses on functional academics, life-skill education, individualized instruction, and vocational training to help students become self-reliant. The visit gave an exposure to the trainee teachers about the understanding of special education, inclusive teaching practices, and the importance of providing individualized support to learners with diverse needs.
